Default Tour Pak Relocation, Is it possible??

Hello, Was wandering if any of you with the 2 up Harley Tour Pak on your softail have ever done a relocation mod and moved it back some?

I know that Kuryakyn and probably a few others make relocation kits for the tourers but haven't saw them for a softail.

I haven't bought a tour pak for my 03 Heritage yet but plan to. Wife and I are both good sized and feel a bit cramped now, so just preparing for the future. Any input is appreciated.

I haven't got any pics of my ride yet but plan to soon.
Thanks

The base of the tour pak is metal so you can drill whatever mounting holes you need.

When I got my tour pak I placed it on the rack and my Wife sat on the bike.
I then moved the tour pak against her back and marked the spot.

When I added the Signature Series seat I needed to move it back about another inch.

I might be wrong, but since we are talking about a Heritage, the tour pack is going to be behind the sissy bar. Unless you move the sissy bar....

Thanks Guys, Sounds good about moving it back some. Didn't know if their was room to do that or if some bracket extensions would have to be fabricated.

Here's another concern. With a little mechanical inginuity, can I convert my existing "backrest & luggage rack" to be detachable so as not to have to buy another detachable one? I know I'm going to have to buy the docking hardware anyway. Couldn't a person just slot the ends of the sissy bar mounts to go over the docking bolts and add the clip on latch deals to the back mounts, like what is on the tour pak rack? I kind of like the one I have, since it is the 03 Anniversary one with the 100th year emblem in back.

I've been watching Fleabay and Craigslist to try to score a good deal on a used tour pak. I'll eventually get one, then let the conversions begin.

I supposed you could "convert" something to hold the tour pak but do you really want to have your Wife lean back on something converted while traveling 75 mph?

If you going to buy a tour pak I think you are just going to have to bite the bullet and also get the tour pak rack.
If you look long enough you will likely find a tour pak and the rack together.

I was lucky to find a tour pak for $150. (the guy apparently didn't know what he had).
I got the rack for I believe $125 from the hdforums classified.

Keep looking, you'll find it.

Oh I was planning to have, and use the 2 up tour pak rack made for the tour pac with the tour pac for sure.

What I was wandering was, when my wife is not riding with me I was wanting to be able to remove the whole tour pak and reinstall my stock sissy bar, luggage rack combo that I have now. Was just wandering if I could convert it, to be detachable so I could qwick change between it and the tour pac?

yes there is a quick release kit available for stock backrest/racks.

I found after I put my tour pak on the only time I take it off is to wash the bike.

you cant just slot the old rail.
you will lose alot of metal.
go to dealer. compare what you have against the detachable rail.. big difference..

I HAVE DETACHABLE RAILS THAT I WILL SELL YOU.. not even one year old
