2000 Fatboy starter problem

I'm having an issue with my 2000 fatboy. When I hit the start button I occasionally get just a click. Ignition switch is new as is the starter relay and battery. The click sounds like it may be coming from the solenoid. A little history on the bike. I bought it in May from a friend. It has the 88b motor, big bore kit, 32h cam S&S Super E carb, Vance and hines long shots and only 33,000 miles on it. I was going to put a starter switch that mounts on the solenoid but it looks like the oil lines are in the way. Any suggestions?

I've had no experience with this problem but, from owning and old Evo it's a somewhat of a common problem. I would pull out the solenoid And and clean it or rebuild it. But before that I'd also look at the battery connection and condition of the cables if there loose tighten them if there corroded replace them. Check ground connections too.

I have a 2010 Fat Boy and have been having this problem for years. I've replaced relay's, batteries, installed a high out put all ***** starter, 6 gauge cables. This weekend I ran a 10 gauge ground wire off one of the starter bolts and neg side of battery and it didn't act up at all yesterday. Time will tell, but it would be interesting if anyone else has had this problem and chimes in.
