This chrome cover is nice
I've run covers like that before on a few bikes. My Indie mech doesn't recommend them, says the regulator will get too hot and fail. Not sure if it's true or not but I had one on my Street Glide and the regulator cooked, Hmmmm?
Thanks, I'll keep my eye on it. Might be ok in the UK as bit cooler here than Stateside. I've had them on my last two bikes and they were fine. This cover has cooling fins so fingers crossed.
I like it better than the HD one but like USMC said, they're supposed to get air to it. I'd like to take the stock cover off and get it chromed, if there was a chrome shop around here...if I could take it off.

I buy parts mainly for functionality, and this kind of thing is the exact opposite of my shopping motivation. Increases the chance of problems, increases cleaning effort, adds weight and costs money. Today, I took a long look at the belt covers on my fatboy. Decided that, if anything, they are more likely to trap debris against the belt than protect it, they stop me from inspecting the condition of the belt or noticing problems and add weight. So I took them off. Different strokes for different folks
Some believe that the new touring 103s with an oil cooler can negatively affect the regulator.
Cycle Electric has a replacement regulator designed for the newer bikes w/cooler to avoid the heat issue;
The CE-608 is designed to fit 2009-2013 FLH/FLT models with the factory oil cooler. The high mount regulator hangs from the upper cross member on the front frame down tubes. This keeps the regulator away from the hot oil cooler to ensure long service life.
