Thanks for the replys. The wife got home from the beach. We mulled it over up one side and down the other in the garage. We've decided that the new trunk is in but the wide Mustang backrest pad is going to get sent back.
It is a 7" wide x 12.5" tall and will cover up more of the inside bottom of the taller bar and also, I think will let her lean back a bit farther. Our recent metric cruiser had a sissy bar pad kind of like this, which she really liked.
I think it will all work out well. With a drastic change, it takes some getting use to. I'm sure when I pull into Food City, raise the trunk and load four 6 packs of drinks and my weekly lunch items for work, I will get that smurky sideways kind of a grin. Love the pics of those studded out leather softails.
Bad part is now she doesn't like the mini passenger floor boards the PO installed and wants the bigger ones.

Your bike is looking great, my buddy has an identical 03 heritage he bought new and he lends me when i come to town. It was my inspiration for my bike, I always wanted an 03 as I love the black and silver.
