In my case, it was a no brainer... In your case you also get a cooler looking air cleaner with the Fat Boy S

So if you want a blacked-out bike... the price for the Fat Boy S is less than if you try to build it yourself from a standard bike... For the engine alone, I would not do it... but because of everything else that the bike comes with, it is a great deal... and you will have a rather unique setup with that 110 from the factory. Something about some peace of mind with the 2 year factory warranty that will come with the engine and rest of the bike...
Might the same be said about the Slim S and the non-S?

Yes. And ABS is not standard on the base Slim....and add the nice looking floating rotors included in the Slim S.

Cool

Worked on installing the engine guard last night. All that is left now is to do the electrical connection.

I covered the wires from the LED lights with a sleeve to protect them. The photo is before putting the heatshrink cover at the tips...

Had an old guitar wire that I used as a guide to route the cables... with the pushing and pulling you can see that the sleeve slid down a bit. I fixed that after taking the photo. I wanted to make sure the wires were protected from the edges of the holes I made.

Ran the tap again, to get rid of any dirt or residue from the powder coating.. placed the LED in place and installed the clear plastic piece.

Followed by the black stainless steel cover...

Rinse and repeat on the other side...

Used all stainless steel hardware... hate rusted bolts. I will later go over those with some black caliper paint...

Done for now... when I went to the local hardware store, I forgot to buy the black silicone sealer... I will grab that today on my way from work, remove the covers and apply as per instructions to avoid any water intrusion in the LEDs... will also use some on the hole I made where the wires come out, to avoid water from getting inside the engine guard.

Thank you. I was not sure if I wanted to add the engine guard or leave it without it... Now that it is powder coated black, I like how it looks on the bike.

I edited the last post and added a few more photos.

You and Gunny keep touching on things that I didn't think I needed. I still can't say I need these things, but now I want these things.

My last two major mods are supposed to be a windshield and luggage rack in the early winter so I can take some trips in the spring. Now the engine guard is creeping into the list.

I like the engine guard. Wish mine had an LED light on it. Not sure how that seat will be for longer rides?
