Ok, So I need to identify the motor that this bike I just bought has. It is a 1989 Softail Heritage with a Screaming Eagle motor. Does anyone know where I might be able to get the manual for this bike? I bought the bike cheap and it is leaking from one of the side covers as well as leaking from a small air filter type housing next the right floorboard, see pictures. Any help is greatly appreciated!
It's not a screamin eagle motor. But they are screamin eagle heads on your evo motor. It's not a stock motor. You have some performance goodies in there. Probably a cam, adjustable pushrods, and maybe some hi compression Pistons to go with those heads
Thanks for the reply Jason, So I am a newbie with bikes but I do have a friend who has graduated from MMI who is willing to help me fix the leaks on this thing and get it going. He is not a Harley guy though and has asked that I do some research on the motor and see if I can get diagrams and specs. Any suggestions?
Hell yeah you did. Just buy a service manual and it will have just about everything you need. I can't tell you the specs of your motor though because I can't see what's in it. I strongly urge you to post in the evo section as opposed to this section

Nothing about that bike is stock, so if you cannot get information on what was done to the motor from a previous owner...the only was to get the "specs" on it is to disassemble it to see whats in there...don't really need to know to fix the oil leak....if you are happy with the way it runs.

It's a case (bottom) breather engine. So the filter underneath is going to spit a little oil, more after it sits for long periods. You have the proper solution for this already (cardboard underneath).
Thanks everyone for the replies! I was able to contact the Original owner and he let me know that the bike has Screaming Eagle Heads and Ignition an EV57 Cam and 42mm mutiny Carb. He also was amazed that I paid only $1500 and offered me $3,000. Also let me know that other than some paint the bike is completely mechanically sound. I am feeling blessed! Anyways appreciate the comments.
