Softail Slim S
I went out to take a short ride and didn't get far. Flat tire with 250 miles on the bike. Small nail right in the middle of the rear tire tread. I could patch it from the inside and put a new tube in it or replace the tire.
What would you do?
If you replace it what tire would you go with?
I have either patched or plugged a tire or two. But only in emergency situations. Like out in the middle of no where before we all had cell phones. Still the fix was only a temp fix to get me home or to a shop to have the tire replaced.
If you have the tire warranty use it. I do and I've gotten 2 tires in 2 years, so I'm on my 3rd rear tire since my bike was new in 12. I will finally have to buy tires this spring and plan on going to Michelins because my stock rear Dunlop sucks. 5k and it's practically done.
I use umbrella valves (always carry a Pocket tire kit and a small compressor,) and have never been stranded since. No way would I waste a perfectly good tire with small nail hole but if you must, install a tube.
