I was curious about this as well. To me, except for some styling issues, the 2016s seem to have some desirable traits such as cruise control and a slightly enhanced 103 engine.
I appreciate and welcome anyone who wishes to contribute there opinions.
Thanks to the ones who have done so and the ones who are about to.

I've already discussed on other threads and I don't want drag my personal opinion into a thread where we are welcoming a new softail owner. I am extremely happy with my two softails and plan to keep them as long as I can. Softails Rock
Fair enough, though you're the one who put it out there. Just curious.

The bike is scheduled to arrive at the dealer in about 3 weeks or so.
By then the weather probably will make a turn for the worse and a
home delivery will be in order.

Wonderful! I am sure that you will love the bike. I hope that there is some riding weather for you to do the break-in.
I liked the new Softail Slim so much that I traded my tricked out Road Glide on one two weeks ago. The 1st week I had the stage one kit put on it.
Everyday I cant wait to take a ride on it. It is super smooth and I really like the style.
I may change the air cleaner to a round bobber style and move the license plate to the lower swingarm area, and add round mirrors.... other than I think I am done.
I thought that I might miss the ABS and Cruise, but I don't. I don't take super long trips so this is a better fit for me right now. I thought that I would miss all the storage and the radio on the road glide, but I don't really miss those things at all. I added a swingarm bag for a little storage and the V&H bigshots take care of the radio part lol.
I did strongly consider the SlimS but it didn't seem like it was worth the extra money to me.
