2002 Fatboy EFI
If not, check out this thread and install some thumbscrews. You'll be thrilled with the performance increase. If you have baffles it won't make a difference.

My name is Robert. I also have an injected 2002 Fatboy. For many years I ran with the Fuel Pak and it served me well. Last year I switched to a Power Vision after upgrading cams.
A few notes about the FP: Within the box is a chart in which you will find settings for each mode. This chart could be outdated so use the chart on V&H's web site. The FP and mode settings are based on a stock MAP. Hopefully your ECM has never been re-mapped. Even when the correct setting are entered into each of the FP's modes, performance issues can present themselves. If this occurs, give V&H a call. They can recommend setting changes that are not listed on the chart.
I recommend installing a fresh set of spark plugs with the FP. New plugs will allow you to monitor the Air Fuel Ratio by removing and inspection them after a few hundred miles.
Ideally, your bike should be in good running order (No Codes) prior to setting up the FP. Try to correct these problems first before installing the FP. Your Twin Cam should idle at 1,000 RMS once it reaches operating temperature. Yes, you can start the bike without a tuner installed however keep in mind that it will be running very Lean due to the free flowing intake.

At 88 CI, even the stock air cleaner is not a restriction.
I suspected this based on my years of modding and it was confirmed in my thread with dyno results.
1.5 ft. lb gain for an S&S high quality free flowing air filter. That's within testing error rates IMHO and proves that the stock air filter just isn't a restriction on these little engines.
More info and dyno sheets on the air cleaner here if you're interested. The exhaust dyno sheets linked above.

All good points and I understand your disagreement with some of my statements. I'm retired military living in the Philippines and have a small shop where I work on many bikes from around the area. I to experiment, and it's good to meet a "Wrench" on this forums site.
Perhaps the tropical climate here has an effect but stage 1 bikes without tuning modifications run super lean and dangerously hot over here. Most of us EFI or Carb like to set up a little on the rich side. I'll also add that no one here ever monitors fuel mileage.
I don't want to hijack this thread. Perhaps we can communicate outside of this fourm sometime and share modifications and lessons learned.

You are very correct in that every "canned" tune I have seen adds fuel to the HD factory setting. I tried several and noted no performance change for my simple mods, albeit using only my "butt dyno". That said my butt dyno is better than you might expect as I've spent the last decade modding, tuning and racing my Corvettes in hundreds of passes. And my plugs always read good with or without the tuner. Oil temps in Miami FL where I live stay around 225, not bad. I sorely miss having OBDII and all the sensors my car has, it makes it so easy to tune because the car tunes closed loop automatically, has knock sensors, and I've installed a wideband so I can really tune it tight. Reading plugs again is so old school to me these days. lol
I will absolutely agree with you that it's safer to run more fuel, particularly if you don't fret about MPG.
But I don't think she will hurt her bike if she wants to ride it with pipes and no tune.
It's my pleasure to meet you and look forward to chatting with you! My email is joegut at gmail dot com if you ever want to shoot me a note.
BTW, I enjoy the Evo forum on here very much. You'll find some great old school wrenches over there happy to help, one in your hemisphere, Spanners39, and johnjtz over in my hemisphere. You might poke in over there and check it out.
Chelsea please keep us posted how you make out with things. Did you buy a tune with your Fuelpak, or are you going to tune it yourself, use a canned tune, or take it somewhere?

I don't think you need a tuner with your minor mods. Others may disagree with me, I'm speaking from my experience on my bike and general knowledge from wrenching for 35 years.
That said if you really want one you could always go with a small lithium battery which is about ź the size of your lead acid battery. Then you'd have room.
