Second bike?
The Road glide would be a nice choice, already considered! But too expensive versus my price range as TSheff mentionned, haven't seen a nice one for 13k.

Something between an Heritage Softail and a Road King ? The dealer has a 2010 RK (FLHRC) with only 10650km (a garage queen?) for 12500$US equipped with a back rest, lugguage rack etc.
Still a sport bike but made for beginners and people without self control.

I currently own a 2016 flss and I would like to add a second harley to the family. A "long distance" bike seems to be the right direction. which bike would you buy with a budget of 17000$CAN or if you prefer 13000$US :-). I'm looking to a 2009 FLHTCU with 55000km and a 96. Do I have better options?
Thanks in advance for your help

You can't go wrong with a King. Unless you feel the need for a stereo. I think any Road King after 2005 comes with cruise control standard.
Keep looking since it is winter. One will fall into your lap if you keep looking.
Also let everyone you know that you are looking for one. You never know who has a friend with a garage queen just waiting to see the light of day.

Loonie;
Your attention span is under question!! Your Slim S is less than 90 days old and you're already looking at another bike.

I can't fault you though. I have two bikes and like having options. My long distance bike is a 2014 BMW R1200GS and is hard to beat for a reasonably lightweight, but extremely capable and comfortable touring bike.
Being that you want to stay with HD, I suppose you'll need to assess your long distance needs.
- Will you ride 2-up often?
- I know your many big highways, but your beautiful country also has a lot of awesome B-Roads. Which will you use most often?
- How much crap do you want to carry?
- Do you place value in radios, GPS, and other useful but unnecessary distractions?
- Is fuel range beyond the typical 5-gallon tank a major issue?
The FLHTCU is certainly an excellent choice if you need all it has to offer.
A similar year-model Road King will have the touring bike feel, with less creature comfort. You save some weight and cost with the RK if you are OK with just a windshield.
A Heritage will do everything the RK does with even less weight. It has just a tad less road-bike feel than the RK due to the slightly smaller frame and Softail suspension. In my opinion, this is a good thing, but it depends on what you want to do with it.
Consider the Dyna Switchback. At your budget, you can get a newer one. It's a very capable machine and offers the most sportiness from the HD Big Twin families. It's a compromise in some respects, but its only real flaw is that it offers less legroom than the other bikes mentioned. If you are under 6', it wouldn't be an issue. Extended forward controls can remedy the issue also.
Obviously the Road Glide and Street Glide are also good mile eating machines.
People that own Road Glides LOVE them. The fixed fairing is not visually attractive to me, but I can see the functionality compared to the Ultra or Street Glide.
Street Glides are just a couple clicks down from the Ultra. HD sells so many of them in the US, with many to new riders, that the used market is flooded. They make a good bargain if a full-up touring bike is the target.

Damned if that isn't one of the nicest looking Ultra's I've seen. I can't say what HD was going for when they designed it, but in my mind, your bike is how the Ultra is supposed to look.
Is it a police model or is it just painted similarly?

Also removed the latch reflector and replaced with billet inserts, after that picture.
2010 with the V & H Wide Oval pipes, Hypercharger,
2014 I've made a couple of refinements
2016 will go with Ohlin suspension front & rear, so it should be close to the best it could be down the road.
