Default Need Help!

A friend of mine is selling his 2011 Heritage Classic, he's owned it since new and has always had the dealer do all work on the bike so there's no strange wiring work here. He wanted to remove a few add-on's before selling it, figured he's get more money selling them separately. Anyway, we remove the HD combination Speedometer/Tachometer and the Boom Audio system both of course were installed by the dealer. Both are really easy to remove on the newer bikes. The original speedometer illuminated and updated the mileage when the ignition was turned on and the Boom Audio is just a pigtail attached to the main wire harness. We disconnected the pigtail, capped the plug on the main harness cut the wires from the pigtail so they could be pulled from under the tank and removed the rest of the system. Once we had everything reassembled we went to start the bike and found everything on the right hand control was dead. No right turn signal, no hazard lights, no brake light when the front brake lever is pulled and the starter won't turn over. Everything else on the bike works, the left turn signal, high beam, horn and the brake light works with the rear brake pedal. The battery is charged, the fuses are good and we even removed the tank to check the right control connection to the main harness and everything is good. I've even got the manual for the bike and have checked out everything from front to back but can't seem to find the problem. We never removed the right control or messed with anything having to do with the right side so this has got me stumped.

If anybody has any suggestions on what the problem might be I'd really appreciate the help.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to go over everything we've already tried.

Thanks in advance.

The dual speedo/tach mates to the bike after so many miles. Once it is mated to the bike, from what I understand it will never reflect the correct information on any other bike. I doubt it will help, but maybe you could try to put it back on the bike and see what happens because you probably wont be able to sell it anyway.

Yup, what Shackdaddy said. After 50 miles and it's mated to the bike so reselling it would do no good.

I very highly doubt that the speedo will have anything to do the lighting issue, but it certainly cant make anything worse than it already is.

Thanks for that advise, I'll let him know it needs to go with the bike. We did reinstall it just to check and see if it fixed the problem but that was no help.

Anybody got any other suggestions?

I dont think the Heritage has internal cables in the bars, but if so, I would pull the cables through the bars and see if the cables have been worn down somewhere. Once again, I doubt this is the solution but still something you could check. Internal wiring on bars has been known to rub and possibly wear down the cable coverings. You could also have burs on the inside of the bar that cause this.

If you have checked all connections everywhere else and everything else on the bike works normally, I would think it has to be an issue at the right side switch housing.
