If you look closely, neither the BR or Straight shots fit along eachother. Both have a wider gap at one side than the other. BR are just less annoying because of the curve. Past that they both appear to have the same entry angle.

There's a bit more flexibility with BR as the covers can be twisted to get the gap perfect. I need to do mine again. I had them perfect once.
The thing is these pipes aren't fixed together or to the bracket and the heat shields are separate as well. If you are willing to put in the time to adjust everything you can get the straight ones to line up properly. It seems that most people just toss them on and tighten everything up and then wonder why it doesn't line up perfectly.
The Big Radius I think are less than parallel on purpose. Even on the V&H site the gap appears uneven but, like you said, because of the curve it isn't as bothersome.
