Hey guys I just installed a set of Vance and Hines short shots on a new 2016 slim S . What's the best fuel pack and why ? I know it needs a retune and I just want to get it right the first time . Thanks
V&h has the new fp3 which you can download your tune and run an auto tune to fine tune it. Fp3 has good reviews but me personally I line the Dyno jet tuners. People seem to like the power vision a lot but it Cost more than the fp3
There are several good tuners out there...but you can't go wrong with the Vance & Hines FP3, it will work great, especially with their pipes, the maps are usually right on, or will be after an AutoTune session. It's easy to use with a cell phone or IPad and has a lot of cool features!! I really like being able to see real-time data on my phone as I ride!! If you download the FP3 app. you can check it out in "Demo Mode".

FP3 is the best choice for the budgeted individual. They are easy to install and set up.
I have installed a few of them.
If you are going to buy one, or any tuner as a matter of fact, go with Fuel Moto, (sponsor on this site) they have the best support and customer service in the country!
I don't think you are going to get a single opinion on which is the best tuner.
Everyone seems to have their favorite choice.
The one thing I think most will agree with is that a "dealer tune" is not the way to go.
At a stage 1 as you are all a tuner will do for you is manage your fuel/air.
Sure you can play with other things but it's not likely you'll see any real benefit in performance.
Once you start modifying the engine (stage 2 and on), a "tuner" will then be needed to recognized the full benefit of the upgrade.
I have a simple V&H Fuel Pak that I picked up used for $125.
It only manages the fuel/air, but since I'm only at a stage 1 that's all I need it to do.
Unfortunately they don't make it for the 2016 models.
Fuel Motor also makes a fuel tuner for under $200 but then again they don't make it yet for 2016 models.
So unless you want to wait for vendors to catch up with the new technology so you can get a cheaper fuel tuner you are left with spending $400+ on a full tuner even if you only want something that will manage your fuel/air.
All that being said, if I was to need a tuner now and I had a 2016 model, I'd get the Fuel Pak 3.
Reason being is that V&H is a proven vendor and I've yet heard any feedback other than positive about the Fuel Pak 3.

FP3 is great and easy to use. However..if you think you may re-cam your bike then consider something different. they don't really support cam changes that well IMHO.

I just changed cams in my Breakout. The FP3 now has a cam selector feature that takes care of upgrades, done with a map edit. My bike is running great!!
