I have yet to see how many miles someone gets on these with the link chain. I am talking someone who does his own work and not hearsay from his mechanic.
Mine went 30k on originals primary was worn heavily, pins on the links were rubbing the shoe. Secondary was just barely starting to wear, but there were 2 distinct grooves in the shoe

04 night train fuel injected, stage 1 when I got it 5k ago, rode it last summer til I sold the ironhead so I could afford the cam swap. Was gonna replace the shoes so might as well do cams and quick install pushrods so I can do shoes again easy if I need 2.

"there were 2 distinct grooves in the shoe"..."04 night train"
Hmm... wouldn't think those statements would go together
I think he is referring to the smoking mirrors upgrade oil pump and hydraulic tensioners garbage Harley sales leaving the link chain on the back side. Even noticed it with aftermarket cams referred to as a upgrade in HOT Bike magazine couple times in the last two years. Tin men will sell their soles for a $. The outer gets the roller chain and rolls after it grooves in. The inner shoe wears even faster on the hydraulic tensioner. However, it is referred to incorrect if my statesmen is true since I am guessing.
