Default Softail Shock Comparison/Specs

I have a shock on my 2001 FXSTD that isn't working so well and I want to replace the pair. After doing a search on this forum, I didn't see the info that I was looking. I did, however, see a LOT of guys going to Shotgun shocks. That's nice and all, but I'm not interested.

Anywho, I want to know the difference in lengths on the shocks below:

Shock Absorber (2001, 2002 Deuce) 54508-00
Shock Absorber (2003, 2004, 2005 Deuce) 54508-00A
Shock Absorber (2006 Deuce) 54508-00B
Shock Absorber (2007 Deuce) 54549-04
2003 SE Deuce 54549-03
2004 SE Deuce 54549-04
Shock Absorber (2008 Rocker) 54510-08
Shock Absorber (2009, 2010, 2011 Rocker) 54510-09
Shock Absorber (2013, 2014, 2015 Breakout) 54000045

Can anyone help me out here? They all run the same price from the different websites I've seen. As low as $225 each.

Thanks!

I don't know the difference in part numbers, but if you get ready to buy check Newcastle Harley online. They had them for around $200 a few moths ago.
If you could swing it the Progressive 422's are worth the extra $ IMO. I lucked into a set cheap on EBay. They were installed and then removed because the owner went with a Shotgun. Like you, I don't care for the air shocks myself but the 422's kick ****.

I found a pair of 54549-04 on eBay for $117 for the pair. They look almost brand new. Just a few scratches from removal.

I replaced my tired old OEM shocks with progressives. I ran through a couple of sets of progressives due to failure including a broken mounting bolt.

My current shocks are Works Performance Light Duty. Not only are they lasting much longer, they also ride and handle great.

They cost a lot more than progressives but are still cheaper than air shocks and not as complex.
