That's king of like asking "How long is a piece of string" ... Many plastic polishes "Novus"
do a good job. Deep scratch would require ( depending on windshield type ) working with some fine abrasive ( 600 grit then 800 , 1000, 1500 ) then polishing.
EEven though many say it doesn't, the windshield has some kind of a coating on it and when using any restorer, including Novus, if you rub through it you'll wish you never tried. I did try and in the end I wound up buying a new windshield because I went through the coating. It isn't thick at all..
The Novus will however work on "very" fine scratches.

Hence, my comment regarding the type of windshield ... but if it's already damaged it's worth a try??? :>)

My bad. I am/was assuming that all the Harley windshields are made from the same material, only different shapes. On the Heritage anyway, there is a very very slight tint to them. That tint is the coating. You really don't realize it's there until you get through it. Even the guy I asked at the dealer insisted it wasn't coated. I asked before I tried to fix it, only to find out he was wrong.
And to the original poster, a replacement windshield isn't terribly expensive and it comes with the new adhesive backed gaskets.
