Default Windshield

Ok, I'm 6'0". I used windex on my originall windshield which I guess is a no no. ..Getting ready to buy a new one. A couple of questions...(Road King Classic)...to me, the stock windshield is too short for me. Do they make a taller one? Secondly...what is the proper way to clean a windshield?

They do make a taller windshield. I would look at Drags windshield. They make a smoke one that looks nice. Harley only has a light smoke.

Gary,
I use a mixture of windex and water and a soft wash cloth. Harley also sells a bug wash for windshields whick I have used and works ok. I spray my windex mixture on and use my fingers to work the bugs & dirt loose, then wipe off with paper towell. I then put a good polish on the windshield. I use Crystal Glow it works great.
Good luck. Tom

Been using Windex on paint & plastic on my biles for years. Generally use the green or clear but have never had any negative effects from windex regardless of the color...

over the last 13,000 miles in 8 months I've only used plain water - I soak it / rub it down first, walk away for a minute, come back, wipe it again to dry it, no problem - once in a great while I have to do it twice for the bug crap that's really in there.

If your windshield is made of Lexan, more care has to be given when cleaning it. I, personally, don't like using papertowels on any paint or plastic surfaces on my RG. Microfiber cloths are awesome and can be used on just about any surface. I use this when cleaning my windshield.

If you start with a hot soaked microfiber towel, and leave it on your windshield for a few minutes, the bugs will come right off without heavy scrubbing. After that, use a lexan plastic cleaner (like Plexus) to polish your windshield. This will help reduce the amount of bugs on your windshield, on your next ride.

Just my .02.

[sm=exactly.gif] You should never use windex on HD windshields. Plexus and microfiber cloths are the way to go.
