Headlamp Trim Ring

I have a 2016 Heritage, I bought the headlamp trim ring 69734-05 When I put it on, there is a gap on the inside ring right next to the headlight all the way around there. With a gap like that if i get any water on my head light it will fill up with water. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong or any fixes?

Can you post a pic? I just installed the same ring on my 2016 heritage, no gap. I held the ring tightly in place while a helper screwed it down.

First, lay it on a flat surface to make sure the surface that goes against the headlight is flat and even. When you have it make contact, make sure the female receptacle where the screw goes in, is directly aligned to the male part. It can be done with one person, but have someone hold it in place while you work the screw in.
