Default riser bolts???

a friend of mine made me some riser extensions for my BO. i know the size of bolts i need but from what i have read people say the bolts need to be grade 8 but the stock bolts seem to be grade 5. do they have to be grade 8? also the grade 8 only has a small portion of the bolt threaded with that be enough thread to bolt into the stock risers after the extensions are installed?

You should measure to see what length bolt you need so you get plenty of threads in the riser. Adding extensions will also increase the torque you put on the bolts when riding. I would use grade 8 bolts if it was my ride. Bolts are not real expensive but having your risers fail could lead to disaster

Grade 5 is strong, 8 is stronger. They even make 9. Check Mcmaster.com if having trouble. They ship very fast

I just added some risers to my breakout tonight and I stuffed some grade 8 back in there instead of grade 5 like what came out. Wont hurt anything. The grade 8 I got were longer for the risers but had the same length of threaded section. I would search around for the right ones.
