It will keep me from getting stranded, run my tire pump, charge other stuff and has a flashlight. Now I can run my "under-the-seat" battery to its bitter end without worry of getting stranded. Yep, I have roadside assistance too but we're a rural demographic and cell phone coverage isn't universal nor is assistance instantaneous. Self-sufficiency is a virtue here.
The xp-3 is $60 on Amazon

Not to be a dick, but you must be doing something wrong if you have never gotten more than 3 yrs

No, trust me! I know 10 years is ridiculous! If I go out tomorrow and it starts I am going to keep on running with it, I gotta know how long it will go!!! If it dies when I'm out and about I call my son or fiancé and have them run me out my new battery of just come get me with the trailer. What is this XP 1 you speak of?

You and I are having a "longevity" contest. But so far you have me by 1 year.

I've been lucky to get 2 years here in hot AZ. They cook pretty well. I am on my 3rd bat since new in late 2012.

UPDATE: Threw my battery on the trickle charger and its starting like it always has. We took it out the other day and it started right up after every stop we had. I'm going to see how far and how long this battery will get me. I'm going to go out and get a new battery and keep it in the garage, just in case........

Yep, they sell the XP-1 for $75. Though the XP-1 is an inch longer, 4 oz heavier and 15 bux more than the XP-3, it has a couple of extra ports for charging other devices and a bit more oomph which is hardly needed for boosting a MC, but might be handy for running a tire pump or something. Its a judgement call for sure.

Tony, you know that battery in the bike now won't lay down at home. It will when your miles from home, in the restaurant parking lot with 4 of your riding buddies, with an approaching thunderstorm, suited up and ready to ride.

I have to disagree. Heat will kill a battery.

I live in Texas and have only gotten 2-3 years out of a battery and mine is on a tender when not riding.

You have 3 people who live in hot climates all getting less than 3 years out of a battery. We can't all be doing something wrong.

Same one since the breakout hit the market. In the winter I tender it, otherwise it's ridden almost every day.
