thinking about throwing some new bars on the bike and have no idea how to calculate the new cables.

Todd told me there was no need to change cables or anything with 10" on my Slim 12" i would have to. Seems that is the consensus i found on the forum. I am still thinking 12"

Real simple, remove old handlebars, but leave the throttle cables attached to the carb / throttle body, the clutch cable attached to the tranny. Install the new bars, now measure the distance that the original cables are too short. This is not rocket science.

Internals, measure the distance from the triple tree through the bars, top the controls for stock, do the same for the new bars, add the difference. For the externals, I just rough estimated with a string.

If you want to do it right..... install the new bars, measure how much longer you need to add to the current cables to route them where you want with the slack you want, add that to the total length of the current cables...... then order cables close to or exactly to length from Magnum. It was pretty easy actually.
