Good evening...I have always had a professional mechanic work on my 1994 fatboy. I recently retired and have "more time than money"...
Therefore, I have taken my friends advice , (that has a bike lift)...and we have done some work on the bike. (New back brake and rotor, new valve bladder in carb, adjusted clutch, put new grips on, etc.)
My back jug, at the base, recently started leaking...right after we worked on the carb.
I have 42,000 miles on the bike...could breathing problems create pressure in the jugs...thus a leak?

Probably not. Base gasket leaks are common on EVO's. The only fix is to remove the jugs and replace the base gasket. I prefer the newer metal base gaskets as they seem to hold up better.
With 42,000 miles you'll want to check the taper and wear on the cylinder. If it's good, hone and replace the rings, If not bore to the first oversize and replace the piston. Obviously you'll want to do both cylinders.
As mentioned synthetic oil is very good at escaping from any pore.
If you are using synthetic consider a switch back to regular.
Someone will come later to clarify but some folks have used a permatex product that is a flowable silicone.
Cleaned, degreased, made area extra dry and then added the flowable silicone and then let it sit for 24 hours.
My evo's always had a tad of weeping - dampness at 40k miles. You may want to switch the oil back however if those are the oem base gaskets it just may be time for new ones. Not a difficult chore- sounds like you have the time and that's awesome!!
