Default 1989 Softail needs some mufflers

Have a 1989 Softail Springer that I decided to resurrect from the dead, I let the poor thing sit for 15 years. After some work I've got her to about 90% perfection but during my assessment, I slapped the stock exhaust on so that I could better hear the condition of the bike (I had drags on it). Well guess what, I like the look of those stock pipes! But damn are they quiet.

Started searching the net for slip-ons and couldn't find anything that had an exact fit. I even called Cycle Shack and asked them if they had any laying around. They told me they sold the last of their stock, about 10 sets to one guy in 2015 and they're not going to produce anymore, bummer.

You guys have any ideas? Anyone have an old Evo who had a similar dilemma?
Just need some slip-ons that'll fit the stock headers and mounting points.
Seems all the old chopper shops around here have closed down.

Thanks

I'm with you. I replaced my Vance and Hines Big Shots with the stock system for a long ride. Turns out I like the shotgun look better and on a Montana ride I could hear my bluetooth music and talk with friends while riding.
I would like to open my mufflers a little but no straight pipes. What baffles did you get and how do you like them?

I've tried a good few sets of slip-ons on my Softail Slim, most of which were either made for other bikes or 'universal' fit.

In all instances it took only a scrap piece of metal to make up a bracket or something I had lying around to make 'em fit.

What I'm driving at is, as long as you can find mufflers that fit your header pipe size (and I'm guessing it's 1 3/4 inch) then you can probably make them fit with a little noodling around.

Yup, that's why they make "p" clamps.

Yeah I wondered about that... Is the idea you wrap a p-clamp around the actual body of the muffler (like a typical sports bike exhaust hanger)?
