Got about as far as I can until my wrench gets the new tank fitted for my Carb.
Installed both fenders and all associated hardware/lighting. Will be removing the "Heritage Softail" front fender trim for the trim spear style on the 2006 FLSTI Heritage Softails since this isn't an actual Heritage. Also added engine guard.
To do's:
Tank conversion - waiting on my wrench
Shotgun Shock - on order
Wheels/Tires/Rotors/Pulley - on order
Great ideas, and looking good.
For me, the short sidewall on the front wheel detracts from the fatness. But that is me.
Do you mean that the whitewall tire takes away from the FatBoy look of the tire? I agree a little. I never would've thought I'd have ever put WW's on this bike but after I did (last Fall) I was pleasantly surprised at how good they looked when the bike was white. Now that I am taking the bike in a new direction with a old school look, these rims/tires will be coming off the bike in favor of 52 spoke rims and WW's. If I misunderstood you, please explain what you meant.
Looks like a fun project, like the look of the Heritage you were inspired by so should look great when done.
Thanks and yeah it is pretty fun. I hadn't attempted to remove a rear fender before or go the route of converting to carb from EFI but after this is over I'll be able to say I did and know what that takes which is cool. Unfortunately I am in the no fun part of waiting for parts...
Mototek's being oddly quiet on the wheels (they've been very responsive with past orders) but the SS is on track to ship next Friday according to Jessica. Also, my wrench is acquiring the tank canopy/float and petcock for the conversion so just need some patience I suppose.
