I chose the Fat Boy because I do not like the Heritage saddlebags. Plus, look at any older Heritage and the Saddlebags always look terrible; saggy and so forth. Not for me. The Heritage is a great bike though.
But any Softail will probably please the OP is my guess.
Thanks all
Such great and valuable input!
My intention is getting a bike before winter sets in - which could be Oct - hopefully seing the benefit of a discounted price as well as getting a few weeks riding - making the winter even longer and harder ;-)
My eyes will be open-minded on a Heritage!
Remove the wind shield, bags, and rear seat you have a deluxe, going the other way cost $$$$. So get he Heritage and remove what you want to make it look like or close to a deluxe. That is what made me go with a heritage.
I agree with most people here. I ended up getting the 2016 Heritage also because of the Cruise Control. You can take the windshield, passenger pillion and saddle bags off really quick. Going the other way would have been more expensive. These saddle bags won't sag like the older models. Ill attach a couple of pictures of mine.
My .02 - I owned a HSTC and my kid has a 09 Deluxe...
If your buying new - THE HSTC is so much more bike for less money
If your over 6'0" - I find myself too low and too cramped on a Deluxe
If your riding 2-up - you need the HSTC
Other then that theyre both terrific bikes.. Just my .02

No tombstone tail light though. I got my Deluxe with bags and windshield and I love it. Adjusted the shocks to match the weight and man what a difference.
