I have a 2016 Fat Boy. I recently purchased a Mustang Fastback seat for it. Unfortunately even though the seat is supposed to fit my bike, it doesn't. Called Mustang and they said that they believe the ECM location on the 16 Fat Boy was changed and the seat won't fit without some modifications. They said I could remove material from the fiberglass pan of the seat until it fits correctly, but obviously would really want to keep the seat before doing so since it would not be returnable. I decided to completely remove the ECM to see if the seat fit without it. Unfortunately it did not fit correctly with the ECM removed so I don't see how modifying the seat pan would get it to fit, it almost looks like the pan is just not the right shape for the bike.
It will be on it's way back tomorrow and I am still looking for a seat. Did Harley move the ECM on the Fat Boy for 2016? If so that may make it hard to find a proper seat. Does anyone know of a seat that will fit my bike correctly? I like the 2 up style like the Fastback. I don't need a touring seat and don't want a solo seat, but a comfortable seat for day trips that is similar in style to the Fastback.
Sounds like to me that Mustang didn't do their homework. They want you to modify their seat to make it fit? And then your stuck with it? Too much $$ to do that. I would have no part of that. You are doing the right thing by sending it back. There are a lot of other seat manufactures out there that I am sure have got it right by doing the R&A.

I really liked the looks of the seat and it was very comfortable. It did move me up a little but I got used to it. But I was only able to take it on a couple rides before I figured out that it just was not fitting correctly. After I called them and they told me that I decided that I did not want to modify it for fear of it still not fitting correctly, so I sent it back. Should not have to modify a brand new $300 seat that is supposed to fit my year bike but doesn't.
