Default 2009 fxstc

Hello all, I just picked up a new to me 09 Softail Custom with 24,000K on it. Paid $7G

Bike was owned by an older fella who customized it his way, basically he was a moco dream customer as every accessory he bought was from the P&A catalog. I stripped all down the day I got it basically back to stock looking.

I'm coming from an old 4 speed Evo sportster that I had for 10 years, which I still have, so this is a big change. I like the bike, would like it to sit a bit lower, possibly get a badlander seat, and remove the apes and install T bars.

A few questions, bike seems decently quick, it's got V&H shortshots and a Screaming Eagle AF. I've been reading that SE255 cams are great for a 96"er. Not looking for much more just a bit more lowend torque. Also does the moco make chrome fork sliders for this year bike, everything seems to be up to 06.
Thanks Dave

Pics of when I picked it up

This is after I took all that stuff off.

Here is my 1990 Sportster I'm coming from. I built it from the ground up, spent waaaaay too much money.

I have an 07 Custom, and it's really a great bike. I think you are going to love it. The Custom doesn't get much love on the forums for some strange reason. I found mine like you did from an individual but it was clean and not all gooned up. I've had all kinds of bikes and I never saw one that cuts through the air as clean as this one does, I mean , no windshield is needed at all. I feel a small amount of wind on my shoulders and helmet. It's hardly noticed. I could go for hours on this thing. It's very planted feeling on the highway.

Looks light years better stripped down. I'd just have the fork legs sent out for chroming or find a chrome exchange guy locally. I had a 91 FXSTC and the only mechanical mod was adding a Super E Carb, ran great, wish I still had it. Good luck with this bike.

Like what you've done to the bike!

There's a Softail kit for the chrome sliders consisting of Sliders, Chrome axle retaining nut, Chrome slider drain screws, Chrome front wheel spacers, Chrome upper fork nut covers depending on model.
Chrome Front End Kit. 46333-07 fits '07-later FXSTC models

So far I ordered a set of new take off mirrors stock, new 7" round air cleaner cover because this one cracked, and the hardware to rehang the turn signals on the bars.

Doing some stuff, getting there, I did buy the chrome front end kit on eBay will install this winter. Right now put the new mirrors on new derby cover and timer cover. Clutch has just about had it catches at the very end of the lever travel, so that'll be another winter project, and while I'm at I'll replace the compansator too.
