Just joined. Everyone calls me Doc. I ride an '07 Fat Boy. I have a major issue with my bike. Haven't been able to ride for awhile. Started the bike and took it out. Got about 100 ft. When my Oil Dipstick blew out and spewed oil everywhere. Got it back home and changed oil immediately. Started it back up and same thing. This has been done four times, every time same result. I'm using Synthetic Oil and Harley Filters. Does anyone have a suggestion?

You have crankcase pressure building up. Likely the breathers aren't working correctly to vent the crankcase.

Cheers!

Try putting just a couple of quarts in after you drain the tank. Your oil pump may be sumping and you're not getting all the oil out of the crankcase and when returning to the tank it's over filling. That happened to me when I bought an 02 heritage that hadn't been run in a few years. Oil tank was empty so put some in and it looked like a volcano for a bit. Also do as suggested and see if your head breathers are functioning. They come out of the head at the hollow bolts that support your air cleaner. By just seeing if air will go in it should come out. Also don't overfill the oil tank. My two softails run best if the oil level on the stick is between full and add.

+1 on the crankcase pressure. Check whatever you're using for venting and make sure nothing is clogged.

Is there a chance your bike was laid down for a while and then you did the oil change? It has happened to me. When the bike is laid down the oil doesn't return back to the tank unless it is started and left running. If you try to drain and then refill new oil, you will have a mount vesuvious like eruption.

You might be overfilling your oil bag. Some bikes are known to do that if you fill it all the way to "FULL". Try half way between "FILL" and "FULL".
