Had a re-think on the risers and decided to use the shorter ones. Then found the new ones have blind holes and the clamp bolts are now too long... gave up for now and will wield the Dremel tomorrow to shorten the bolts.
Good call on the shorter risers. Looking forward to the progress.
Then tried to torque the fittings for the windshield and one SNAPPED! Another has bent and I don't holdout much hope... what kind of metal do HD use, toffee???
Rather worried now that if bolts snap at 14Nm will they be safe at 70 on the motorway?
This evenings task was to fit the new SS throttle cables and very smart they look...
I'm rather enjoying this step-by-step approach; learning each task as I go along makes it less intimidating and should make riding better as I won't worry about everyday tasks. Everyone should give it a go!
Today's task was a new clutch cable and the Burley Brand easy clutch thing. The BB easy clutch was fiddly but went on ok. Just need a bottle of Moble 1 now to refill the transmission. But as for the circlip on the clutch pin... what a little f##ker! In the end had to get a cheap set of circlip pliers and used the Dremel to make the tiniest ends. I plan to change the levers at some point so for now I have left clip off.
The easy clutch does seem to work... but the proof will come when a hand doesn't ache after filtering on the M66!

Today's progress was to refit the swingarm with the new stainless splashguard. Bought from the stealer but it would have been easy enough to make one. The fittings were all chrome steel and so I swapped them for SS ones to better survive along side the wheel.
