Ok fellas I got the leather works 312xl (5" thick) bag in the mail. I was holding it up into place lastnight and I don't see how I can possibly mount it with the kuryaken axle cover in place. They already stuck out quite a bit. I've seen were guys have used spacers and plates to set the bag off of the swingarm a bit, but I think as wide as this bag is, if I space it out enough to clear these covers it'll look retarded. You guys have any ideas I'd love to hear them.
Yes, but did you look at the picture? The over part of the axle cover (part that sticks out) is pretty long. I may have to just take the damn things off, but I like having the LED running lights down there.
My bag is the Solo Bag from Garage Leathers and it mounts in front of the axle. Not sure what you have on the back but I m guessing they are the Phantom covers from Kuryakyn. Based on my experience there is not a lot of extra room to move the bag forward so I would guess that unless you space it out to clear the cover you will have to remove it.

Yes they are the Kury covers. Im not sure what I can do, I was just seeing what advice I could get from you guys. I do know that I have to keep the pegs reachable for my 7 yo son which is the only one that rides on the back.
Rocker B, how did you mount yours exactly? leather straps, zip ties, or did you do some sort of mounting plate? Thx
I used to have the same bag, only the L-version. I mounted it with the straps delivered with it but it came to sit quite close to the axle. But as Rocker B's pics prove you can mount it slightly further towards the pegs.
But wait....you take your 7 year old son on the back of the bike? Hopefully only around the block...
Yeah just in the neighborhood. His school is in our hood about a 1/2 mile down the road. Time to time I'll pick him up from school on it. He loves riding it.
Not a problem, move it forward like it's suppose to be. Once you strap it on, it'll place itself forward of the axle cover.
The spacers and plate is to not use the supplied straps because they rub off the paint, in your case the chrome.

I used 2 good sized zip ties at each of the 4 mounting points and just used the leather straps, for looks only, to cover the top zip ties...I also used Gaff tape to protect the paint under the bag...
