Well I have a chance to pick this bike up but I'm not to sure what it exactly is. What I do know after contacting S&S is that the engine components were sold to Ultra Custom Cycles in 1997. They also told me it was 3 5/8 bore I need to check out the flywheel to figure out the stroke. So I'm figuring it's some sort of Ultra Custom Cycles bike and I was hoping someone here might be able to help shed some light on this. The title for it is in Florida and the bike is here with me in MD, I wont have the title for about a month or so. I can pick it up for $2750 which I'm assuming is a pretty good deal. Thanks in advance for all the help.
I put this here instead of the customs section simply because of the traffic, if it should be moved please do so.
Yes I tried to google it with no luck, Rosie at S&S said that Ultra bought a ton of stuff from them and built a good amount of bikes so I'm assuming it's one of theirs. They went out of business some time ago, I got a list of their models for 1997 but cant seem to find pics at least I couldn't find any in google. I was hoping with the amount of people here someone would've came across one in their travels
If it was built by a company making their own bikes (Carolina Customs etc) it should have some kind of tag/VIN on the frame. See anything on the frame to delineate origin?
Is this the company or have they been taken over by someone else since yours was built? http://www.ultracycles.com/
From their site:
Ultra helped develop and innovate the American V-Twin Custom market in the mid 1990's with the introduction of the Groundpounder and Jackhammer product lines with 180 series rear tires and 88 cubic inch S&S engines.
In 1998 Ultra released the bike that took the heavy weight V-Twin cruiser market by storm with the release of the Fat Pounder Rigid and the Fat Pounder Softail that roared down the road powered by the newly released S&S 113 cubic inch engine.
