Ok guys, new to this, so bear with! Got a 2002 FXSTS. Had it triked for a while, got tired, so put 'normal' back end back on. Same belt/same wheel/same swing arm/same rear drive pully etc etc...but GOT A 2" PLAY ON REAR BELT, at FULL WHEEL adjustment (can't go any tighter). Tried lowering (via shocks) but no joy. Belts don't stretch THAT much!! OK, I am on last life of primary chain (its at full tension), but that should not create/cause THIS problem. Cant ride...just standing looking at it...aarrggh!!! Its a standard 70T with a 135 tooth belt, at 1 and 1/8" width belt. I haven't changed a friggin thing. When it was triked, it did have a spring-loaded idler to keep tension. Help....there's gotta be SOMETHING I've missed or too stoooopid to work out????
Thanks for reply - Ive never changed the trans end of things, so assume its a standard size. I did snap a belt a year ago (when it was triked)...the more i look at it, the more it looks like the belt is just too big (yet, in theory, its not...Ive even been sad and counted the teeth on belt and on rear sprock!). If it is belt size, I think I'm just trying to deny (to myself) that the belt needs changing (AAARRGGG!!). There's nothing left to alter/move/adjust - there's only the back wheel, shocks...nothing else. the only thing I've NOT checked...is the trans end (I wouldn't think the triking would have changed this?)...better open that end up and count!
