agree-I think the badge should flow with the bottom of the fuel tank. Some angle the badges to flow with the slope of the top of the tank and it looks a bit off to me. Your photoshop looks right.

I love how both red badges you are considering tie in with the saddlebag badge and red tail light/ signal bullets, almost makes me want red bullets on front signals.
I usually like the longer tank badge, ('48-'50). I don't care much for the very short one on my Slim for comparison.

I agree with your points. I wanted the '49s at first cause my grandpa had a '49. As for the later years, I've seen tons of bikes with your badges.
