My 99 fat boy is an awesome bike other than the fact that my solid wheels are like sails here in the desert, I picked up some 05 heritage spokes from a buddy and got the front on with a new rotor and wheel spacers so no big deal, the rear though is fighting me. I got a new sprocket and rotor and a wheel spacer kit from lowbrow customs but I can't get the belt to quit rubbin the tire unless I swap to different wheel spacers that obviously do not work.... I'm at a loss on what todo now, other than the hub changing from the 6 year difference in not sure what else would be different. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Make sure the belt has enough space to move out on the secondary drive with the new sprocket spacer, otherwise it needs to "bend" and it is not designed to do that.
You can also think about a 20mm belt (if you not already have that size), it is 5mm narrower than a 1" belt.
I don't like spokes. Just a pain to do a tire repair and something else to go wrong when they get loose. I just sent my front wheel to shiny ***** and had them do the cutouts on the solid wheel. Still heavy but does better in the crosswind
Loosen the spokes on the left side an 1/8 of a turn and then tighten the ones on the right an 1/8 turn until you have belt clearance!
That sounds like a really bad idea.
I have had this bike for 10 years and I think the whole wind and solid wheel thing is BS.
I also have a spoke wheel bike and if its windy they both get blown around.
