Default Has anyone ever performed a front fork oil change on their HD Breakout FXSB

Hello,

I have a 2015 Breakout FXSB. I'm super **** and change my fluids early.. I know it doesn't need a fork oil change as of yet, but that's the only fluid I have not changed yet and would like to do it. Again I understand that it's not ready for it mileage-wise, but I plan on riding this bike to 200k and want it to last.. so I would like to change the front fork oil and get all the breakin material out.
Before you say get a manual, I do, i have the HD manual that the Harley techs use, just was wondering if there is any short cuts on doing this, it doesn't look like it has drains on it where I can not remove the forks off the bike.
So what I'm asking is there any short cuts on flushing the old oil out, I have a vaccumm air operated fluid extractor, I know they say you can't take the top fork nuts off while they are still bolted to the bike, but if the forks are hanging in the air with the bike jacked up, then what's the difference??? Was wondering if I could leave the forks bolted up, take the caps off (with the bike jacked up) drop on vaccumm tube down and suck the oil fluid out? By vaccumm I mean the ones that work off of compressed air and usually are used to bleed automotive brake lines(it's got a thin 1/4 vinyl hose).

Any thoughts or any write ups on this, I searched and can't find any related to the softail Breakout.

Thanks in advance!!

If you wanted to use the vacuum and leave the forks in, all you would have to do is loosen the upper clamp bolt on the trees, then remove the cap nut. That cap will not budge if you do not loosen the upper clamp bolts.

I've changed my own seal that was leaking on my right fork. It's not all that bad really. You won't have to disassemble the guts just to change the oil. I would remove the forks anyways just to be able to cycle the fluid out to make sure I got all of it.

Thanks for the reply back! It didn't look like a big deal to remove the forks, just was hoping there would be a quicker way and no disturbing the seals. So what your saying is I can take the forks off of the triple tree and off the bike, un screw the caps, turn them upside down and drain it out that way? I won't have to disassemble the guts that way?
Thanks again for the reply, I really appreciate the feedback. I'm a auto mechanic and I don't like anyone working on my stuff but me.
Thanks again

Just would like to thank you for your help, I removed the forks off of the bike today and cleaned up everything and drained the fluid out. It was easy to do, I was intimidated at first but it went smoothly. I used amsoil shock therapy.
