I have a 97 Heritage with a TP 121" Motor in it. The past few months when I would start it, it sounded a little scratchy. Sounded like the starter wasn't engaging quick enough.
Yesterday when I went to start her up, it just clicked and it sounds like directly from the starter (Stryker). I replaced the battery because my white writing said I installed it in 2015, but it keeps doing the clicking thing.
Someone told me to rock it back and forth in gear, but nothing.
Someone said to cross the terminals and jump it, but the wires are not visible.
Try replacing the starter relay. I had the same problem on my 93 FXSTS. I replaced the starter relay and all is well. You may also check the battery cables and make sure the negative ground cable is tight at the frame.
