Default 2007 Night Train starter issue

Hi guys,

I have the same issue as this guy on youtube -

Cold start - No problem
Hot start - same as the video

Thinking on replacing my stater but need you opinion if to go for an original HD starter https://www.harley-davidson.com/stor...-05-3161906--1
or 30% of the cost with an aftermarket one on eBay. what is your reccomendation?

Thanks
Yaron

My Train would have a hard time starting when hot as well. Rather than replacing the entire starter motor, I just replaced the starter's spragg clutch. This was two years ago and I have not had any issues since. There is a how to video on Law Abiding Biker's site ,as well as, Youtube.

I had the very same problem with my Train. Replaced the starter clutch and that seemed to help, but what actually cured it was retarding the timing in the cranking area of the map (lowest rpm/90-100 kpa) haven't had a problem since!!

I had the same issue, but I changed out my compensator with a baker and haven't had any issues yet. Changed it out about 2 weeks.
