Default Fender strut measurements on 04 Springer Std

I picked up an 04 Springer Standard not to long ago and in moving it around the garage realized I had a squeaking noise. Assuming this was the rear fender I started poking around and noticed virtually no gap between the fender and the tire. This in part is because whoever the previous owner is lowered it to a fairly extreme level.

With that being said I was looking at the fender struts and the spacing between them is wildly different in relation to the tire. The right side is around 3/4" where the left side is around 1/2".

This is my first dip into the softail world, I've been riding a bagger the last six years so you'll have to forgive my ignorance if this has been 1)covered before and 2)noted on the site somewhere. I did attempt to search but came up empty handed.

Normal...it also looks like you have a 150 tire, thats wider than stock on that year!

The space between the struts is 7-1/4" . A 150 fits as well as a 160 if you use capsule nuts. The offset you see is what it is from H-D.Your front tire is offset also. There are several variables that will screw with these dimensions, especially on an older bike. Wheel could have been changed, spokes could have been changed. I've got a 170 Shinko under my wife's 04 Springer. Just a matter of trying things. On hers when I relaced spokes I moved the rim off stock dimension by a quarter inch.

Thanks for the input guys. It is a 150 rear tire. Since posting this I've stopped worrying about the rear tire. Snapped the exhaust stud on the front head when taking off for an exhaust system. Needless to say this has been parked for the time being and I've been riding my bagger.
