1990 Fat Boy Gray Ghost Question
If I offended you, I am sorry.
A standard used value on a bike based solely on its age is unrealistic and uneducated in some instances.
A '63 Vette is not worth 20% of its original price, it is worth much more.
A '85 Buick Regal IS worth 20% (or less) of its original price HOWEVER a '85 Buick Grand National is worth WAY more. (even though it is just a special edition Regal)
If the above comments are hard to understand, then classic vehicle valuation should not be on your resume.
I have known for years that I wanted to be the next owner of my brother's 1990 Fatboy. I bought the bike used with his money after finding it in a barn in South Dakota in 1994. He owned it for 27 years and throughout those years was offered anywhere from $9,000 up to $18,000 to sell the bike....he never did sell it, preferring to ride it occasionally and to have it parked next to his daily ridden bikes.
I now own this 1990 Fatboy, bought for $10,000 (a fair price for the market in 2020-2021) with the stipulation that it not be sold outside the Family. I have it insured for $18,000 which would cover me for a search and travel and acquisition of a similar, perfect condition replacement. If I ever sell this Fatboy (I do not plan to) I would have to split any cash over 10K with my brother. I ride this bike weekly and year round in the sunny Southeastern state of Georgia. I bought it with 24,000 miles and now have 27,000 on her.
Congrats to ALL the members here who own a 1990 Fatboy or maybe used to own....just a great piece of history and a fun bike and legend to be a part of.
