Engine problems
Hello, I am Eddie. I have a 2006 Softail with 9020 miles on it. I am the original owner. I never get to ride; the bike is practically brand new. I was on my way home from a ride yesterday, and when I let of the throttle I heard a clattering in the engine. I got home and listened to each cylinder independently and the back cylinder sounded smooth and fine but the front was a different story. It sounded like a broke sewing machine. What kind of problems am I looking at? Please help.
A lifter? Sounds like what happened to me this week, lifter stripped a cam, both disintegrated, and messed up my engine. Not saying you've got catastrophic engine failure but you may want to trailer it to a dealer and get the lifters checked.
Could be several things, but with that mileage, I would guess bad lifter too..
Do you work on it yourself or use an indy/dealer?
In either case, I wouldn't ride it until it is checked out....

Could be the cam tensioner pads are bad.... LOTs of info about checking them out in here for yrs.... yep some even with low miles have had the problem..
hope that's not what the cause is, that could be major bucks....
