Default Heritage tins comparability

I have a 2005 heritage Softail Classic (FLSTCI). I'm looking to change the color but want to keep the stock tins for resale purposes.

I'm on the hunt for some take off tins and I'm not sure of what years to look for.

Can any of you experts tell me if the 2000-2006 Heritage tank and fenders fit the 2005 as long as they came off a EFI bike?

Thank you in advance.

The rear fender for 00-02 is narrower.
In 03 they went to the 150 (wider) rear tire.
Other than that, tank is the same (w/FI) & frt
fender is the same.

My two cents: tha heritage is not going to have a resale value worthwhile with or without the original tins, that would justify purchasing a different set for paint.

Does The Heritage NOT hold it's value? Just wondering. I know most bikes don't but are the Heritage considered a " Lower End" Harley?

Heritages are the higher end of the Softail family.

Thanks QC. I bought one in January, a used '13 from a Harley Dealership here in Arizona and I'm really happy with it. I was just wondering after reading Tampa Fatboy's post. I would rather hear it here than anywhere else. hahaha

If you did a great new custom paint job on your new tins ,I don't see how having the old tins would increase the value for resale.. I could be wrong..

While I agree Tampa's post, The main thing that affects resale, IMHO, is overall condition and maintenance.
Saving the original tins may have some benefit in that someone who would buy the bike with stock tins and the custom ones so they could get rid of the custom tins if the scheme doesn't appeal to them.

There is some truth to that but not all custom paint jobs appeal to all people. When I am looking for a used bike I want one as stock as possible. I even prefer stock pipes and stock air cleaner from the get go.

I paint my bikes myself and good used tins can be round up for less than $500.00. Depending on what paint I go with (PPG being the most expensive) I could have less than $1,000.00 in the job and I would have a bike that is at least different than others.

I just recently purchased this Heritage. I got a smoking deal on a low mile bike. The problem is there is just too many around with the same black paint and Harley tank decal.

I was at a funeral over the weekend. There were hundreds of bikes lined up and another rider almost climbed on my bike so I just like to have something different but if I decide to trade this one off or sell it later I'd do better to have the stock tins. Plus I may want to switch it back later.

I have an 03 Fatboy that I bought new. After a year of ownership I was ready to have a different look than so many other 100th anniversary bikes just like mine. I did the same thing that I'm wanting to do now. I have the original tins, pipes, wheels and such wrapped up and boxed waiting for its 25th birthday to put it back to stock.
It will be like a new bike again.
