I paint my bikes myself and good used tins can be round up for less than $500.00. Depending on what paint I go with (PPG being the most expensive) I could have less than $1,000.00 in the job and I would have a bike that is at least different than others.

I just recently purchased this Heritage. I got a smoking deal on a low mile bike. The problem is there is just too many around with the same black paint and Harley tank decal.

I was at a funeral over the weekend. There were hundreds of bikes lined up and another rider almost climbed on my bike so I just like to have something different but if I decide to trade this one off or sell it later I'd do better to have the stock tins. Plus I may want to switch it back later.

I have an 03 Fatboy that I bought new. After a year of ownership I was ready to have a different look than so many other 100th anniversary bikes just like mine. I did the same thing that I'm wanting to do now. I have the original tins, pipes, wheels and such wrapped up and boxed waiting for its 25th birthday to put it back to stock.
It will be like a new bike again.
To each his own, was just throwing some input out there. Like you said, run across older scoots with the tins still looking new would have appeal to some, no doubt. Doing your own paint/labor always brings down the overhead. Good luck with your project.

Resale value on all of em is bad now. Bagger's are just easier to sell
because of popularity.

Boy,, do you got that right.
I can not believe how low prices are right now on good used bikes.

I just sold an 08 Victory Vision and felt lucky that I got $6,100.00 for it.

Its got to be hurting dealers because there is so many low mile bikes out there for half the price of new ones.
That wasn't the case a couple years ago.
