Default First Long trip

I just got back Monday from my first long trip on my Heritage Classic.
It was a spur of the moment trip, One of my Club Brothers passed in Clovis NM.
I departed Stockton CA on Thursday and rode as far as Needles CA the first day, A little over 500 miles, Next day on to Albuquerque NM. Another 500 mile day.
Meet up with a Brother Saturday Morning and had breakfast and then off To Clovis NM 200 miles., We attended the funeral And then about 30 of us went to a local VFW....$2 Bottles of beer....
The Bike purred like a kitten all the way, I was in no hurry so I cruised an average of 75 Mph....
The ride went uneventful except for a little rain, No rain gear just T'shirt and Cut, Only rained for a minute are so at a time, It was warm so no big deal, You dried off quickly....
Only stopped at one HD near Flagstaff AZ to get a coin, Passed a couple of others....
On the way home I had one long stretch from Flagstaff to home 713 Miles.
During the trip the only thing I figured I might change on the Bike is to Move the Handel Bars maybe an Inch or so forward to see if it will keep that spot just below you neck in between your shoulder blades from hurting....If I do that Ill loose my place I put my water bottle, So I ordered one from Capt. Itch that mounts on the front of my Saddle bags....
Total Mileage for the trip 2,530

Default Quick Questions

I see that you also moved from a tourer to a Heritage. Are you liking it as much for long hauls or not? Why did you move to a Softail?

My street glide killed my back....
And I always liked the Old School looks of the Heritage....
Bottom line the Heritage is just more comfortable.

The best mod I did for long trips on our Heritage was when I added some HD foot pegs on the engine guards.... not cheap but they made a MAJOR diff on my comfort.....

Glad you had a safe trip complete with $2 beer. I'm seeing more and more people moving to lighter bikes like the Heritage for touring.

so do you have a windshield on it? I love my Heritage, but when I freeway travel I get beat up by the wind and semis, been wondering about adding a faring for long rides, I do prefer the looks of the heritage bare

Sounds like a great ride...sun, rain, beers, friends, and a meaningful reason to hit the road. Who needs rain gear!?
