'04 Softail Deuce, runs fine at idle and low rpm, once you get moving it will cut out and backfire. The strange thing is when it comes back. which is right away, the speedometer goes all the way to the max and then all the way back to zero and then will start to register speed again. Already replaced the voltage regulator, stator, and checked for good ground....any ideas?

Ignition switch. Check under the dash at all the connections and clean the switch itself.

Why did you replace the voltage regulator and stator before diagnosing the problem?

 

Because that's what the stupid ****ing mechanics diagnosis was at the Harley shop and it didn't fix it!
