Default FBW throttle roughness

Last summer I complained that the throttle on my 2016 Heritage was stiff and kind of notchy. I played with it , put Avon grips on it and yet it is still ruff. Anyone having this problem ? I was wondering if dielectric grease would help, afraid just any other grease would effect the electrical components. I miss cables like my Blackline, smooth and instantaneous.

It’s been my experience (three TBW bikes now) that they have a somewhat disconnected feel as opposed to cables. You do get used to it for the most part with some miles. Not sure if theres anything to be done about it or not, I assume not.

Should still be under warranty, have your dealer check it. My 16 Deluxe is smooth from idle to W.O.T. What OTTER said is very true, but it sounds like there is something wrong with yours.

Service manager is dealer family......patent answer, they all do that, no matter what you ask. If it has anything to do with warranty work he says the same thing to everyone. All they want to do is sell tires and install pipes, chrome etc. Never again will I go with the low price dealer. Bike shifted hard and I mean hard and rough. I take it in, didn't notice much difference after they worked on it. On way home the shift linkage at the trans pivot point falls off. I've had 28 bikes in 47 years, mostly Harleys, so I know stuff. This Heritage must be a Monday morning bike, notchy throttle, hard shifting trans, ABS pulses at slow speeds. Need to find new dealer because if I work on it they will say it's my fault and not honor the warrenty.

Is it rough with the ignition off? Mine is not, It is basically a rheostat, so there should be no notchy rough feeling. Sounds like you need a new dealer at least until your warranty runs out. Good Luck.

Any grease is going to collect dust/dirt and make it worse. Try hitting the switch housings, where the grip revolves, with some 2000 grit paper. You'll see where I'm talking about when you split the housing. There's a section where the grip spins and it keeps the grip from pulling off. Lightly sand those areas of the housing and also the section on the grip that fits into the slot. It might just be a tiny speck of casting or a piece of the plastic grip that's making it feel notchy.

I'm going to take it apart again tomorrow. I put Avon grips on it hoping it would help- no such luck- and it all seemed smooth then, but I will pay very close attention this time.
