Default Wits end..

Posted this in the tech section but no luck, hope someone here can help.

Having now serviced my bike a few times and just recently swapped out my lowers for chrome ones, this problem is driving me crazy!

Just how sensitive is the are the throttle and idle settings on the bike. Let me explain. I set the cables as described in the manual, and from a few posts on the forum. There's very little play in the idle cable so the twist grip feels good and it all snaps back as it should. On the throttle side of things it is set so that it is a hair off the stop when full open, with the disc in the throttle body following suit. But it lags like a tired dog, in high gears at low speeds it responds badly until you shift down 1-2 gears which it never did before. It also has a kind of bumpiness to it, maybe not enough gas or too much?

I have been thinking that maybe the cables have stretched beyond adjustment. The bikes not even two years old yet, although it has done 40,000. When they adjust things at the dealer do they set things up using a computer? Could it be the injectors?

Fuelpak it set correctly, no engine codes logged either

I can't think what it can be. Anyone have any ideas.

Regards

Rob

The cables are either intact and working or they aren't. I can't see how they would have anything to do with your bike being sluggish or having a slow throttle response.

You should check your Throttle position Sensor (TPS). It is a resistor and sometimes they do go bad like a turn type volume control that scratches and jumps up and down in volume, same concept. If it is not quite right it will not give you the smoothness you knew at new. I replaced mine at 43000 on my 03 Heritage.

Keep your face in the wind,
Woody

I thought it may the sensor but ruled it out as it didn't show on the fault codes. Thats not to say it could still be the cause of my problems. I will take a look. I guess the only way I'll know if its faulty for sure is to replace it! How much do they run at?

Why would you drive at low speeds in a high gear? That would cause problems right there wouldn't it? Mine feels sluggish and bumpy when you downshift later than you should. I thought that was normal.
