Was out riding the other day and riding pretty hard. Wide open throttle on an empty stretch of road. When I came to slow down, the throttle was stuck open at the grip. I had to manually push the grip back forward, it wouldn't snap back on it's own.
When I got home I rolled the grip forward as if I was turning on the EITMS and it felt like it slipped out and will just rotate all the way around. Assuming something is sprung in there? Same happens if I roll it all the way as if I was giving it gas, when it gets to where it should stop rotating, it "slips out" and will keep moving and then get stuck. I can manually push it back forward.
Anyone ever have an issue like this? I'm assuming the dealer will have to replace the whole grip and throttle tube assembly. Definitely not a safe way to ride.
Haven't experienced anything like that but curios what the fix is
I demonstrated it to the guy and told him I don't want a call that they can't replicate the problem. Had him acknowledge he sees the issue and could demonstrate it to a tech if needed.
I think it's just something inside where the "teeth" of the grip meet the "teeth" of the throttle tube and they're broken or something. Feels like it's just a cheap plastic parts failure to me.
Sounds like the switch housing is pulled to far to the left and has no free play for the throttle grip causing it to bind...was a common deal in 08 on baggers when ever someone that didnt know what they were doing changed grips!

interesting. They just left me a vm saying my bike is ready to pickup but they didn't leave any details. Too busy with work get in there tonight to pick it up but we'll see tomorrow what they say.
I had the same problem with my S and fixed it,just loosen the switch housing a tad see if it frees up and retighten. Mine would stick at whatever position it was in.

120 on the speedo. Not sure how accurate HD speedometer is. Was still pulling a bit but ran out of real estate on the speedo. I don't think it had much more, maybe could have eeked a few more mph out of it.
I was very surprised a HD could go that fast. I expected it to drop off at just over 100.
