Ok never mind we went to the store where my bike was parked and asked if an alarm went off and if anyone was on my bike when it went off - they confirmed it was that sleaze ball douche bag that sat on my bike

I agree that light doesn't tell you if the alarm was triggered their is a diagnostics problem. I would start with checking all your lights to see if one is out.
Is it only solid when you are riding the bike? If so, it could be a stuck brake switch. If you are moving for a certain amount of time with the brake lights on, that light will be solid. Trust me, I know from experience. I would Push the front brake lever forward, the brake lights go off and so did the red light on the speedo. I ended up having to rebuild the master cylinder for the front brake so that the lever would fully extend forward. The rubber seal on the plunger was the culprit.
