I don't want bags for my Fatty or a back rest. I need to call the stealer tomorrow. I ride my bike to work a few days a week. I want a little luggage rack to strap my jacket and shoes too. It looks stupid with shoes hanging over my gas tank.I tried looking at the HD website but but not sure what style works. I think it hooks from the seat bolt to the license plate holder?
I don't think they have a solo rack for the '07 yet. I looked for one ages ago. When I got the sissy setup, they have loads that attach to it, but without that forget it.
Try a small rucksack.
Or maybe aftermarket may have one now.
I have a friend who has a small side bag that attaches to the swingarm, small, but large enough to put a pair of shoes in and maybe a jacket. He can take it off in a couple secs.
I know you said you didn't want a backrest, but I have a detachable sissybar that I use to attach my laptop to when I go to work. Since it detaches, it is less permanent than a luggage rack.
I just installed the passenger backrest with a luggage rack. I would like a solo seat rack that I can similar to the sissy bar. Does anyone know of a company that makes them for the 07 Fatboy?
HD makes a solo luggage rack, but not sure if they make one for the 07's since they have the wider rear fender. I am going to get the detachable solo rack for my fatboy for short trips when I am using my solo seat. It mounts to the same hardware my detachable sissy bar mounts to.
The solo luggage racks are out for the 07's... I have one on my 07. It was around 77 dollars after my discount. It attaches from the passenger seat bolt to the license plate holder. You have to drill the holes for that. It is definitly worth it though. either bungee stuff directly to it or I also strap a roll bag to it for day trips.
Here's my two cents worth. You'll have to get the solo seat for your mo'sickle. Then the Harley part No. is 53652-05 is the little black rack you want (the chrome one is also listed with different part No.). Then comes 60 or 80 bucks worth of docking ware and probably stuff to move your turn signals out of the way. The catalog guides you thru pretty good; just costs a lot o' money. But it is detachable from the bike just like the money from your wallet!
A cheaper way that you may want to consider is from BKRider on ebay under "softtail luggage rack".
