So I bought my first bike back n March and im slowly trying to black it out. I've decided that my next step in de-chroming my '14 slim is gonna b a set of V&H big shots. Heading to Biketoberfest n it's about time I get rid of the stock sound. My question is, are there any other modifications or swap outs that should b done while the exhaust is off? I'd hate to have to remove it later for something that could b done now.
Thanks n advance n thanks for having me as a member of a bad a$$ forum!!
Did a little research n it looks like replacing my tranny covers would b a good idea while the exhaust is off. Has anyone done this before? Is it a difficult job?
Do you have a service manual for your bike? If not - best investment for mods. Tranny cover is pretty much bolt-on & gasket swap. Get it powdercoated, or VHT paint (self) black or wrinkle-coat...IMO.
I do have the manual n it seems cut n dry. But it never hurts to get advice from someone who's done it before.
Also I didn't see where the manual mentions the top cover for the tranny. I feel if I'm gonna paint 1 I should paint the other.

Have them powdercoated. It's far cheaper than buying new ones.
You could have your clutch, cam covers and even the primary done all for <$100
Just get yourself a service manual, new oil and gaskets.
I'm considering a cam swap this winter...now I'm thinking a cam swap an having the cover powder coated an the primary an transmission covers done at the same time...thanks for spending my money guys....Hell....I could shave a few bucks on adjustable push rods an pull the rocker covers an have those done too!!!
